Day 7: A whole day around Seoul

Our first full day in Seoul. A robot and AI museum in the morning, a building without a single straight corner in the afternoon, and the word Zagreb on a window of N Seoul Tower in the evening.

We woke up in our hotel in Seoul with a view of the city from the room. The group was already starting to split up depending on who wanted to go where, but we spent the first part of the day together as the whole national team.

Morning view of Seoul's buildings

We took the metro a bit out of the centre to the Seoul Robot and AI Museum. From the outside the building is round and silver, so it looks like a giant egg dropped in the middle of the street.

Inside there were lots of humanoid robots. Some were just heads with faces, some hung above grass in glass displays, and one corner was set up as a small football pitch. We learned quite a bit about artificial intelligence. After a week of constantly fixing our own robot, it was interesting to see what other people do with theirs.

From the museum we went to Dongdaemun Design Plaza, or DDP for short. It is the building that has no straight corners on the outside. Everything is curved and silver, so you can't tell where the wall stops and the roof begins. We had free time there, took more photos on the steps and went to eat wherever each of us wanted.

We took the metro back to the hotel and the group split up. Some went walking through the streets of Seoul, and others went up Lotte World Tower and looked at the city from 491 metres.

We went to N Seoul Tower. One window of the observatory reads Zagreb, 8,493.96 km. Only when you see it written down do you realise how far from home you are. We also left our mark: a tag reading FGC Team Croatia with our names and the date. It now hangs there among the other messages.

Then night fell again. Everyone had explored something of their own that day, and that was our first real day in Seoul.
